Overall, I’ve found this course incredibly useful and am incredibly keen to embrace and implement the elements of lesson planning and delivery into my personal practice immediately.

Objective: To develop secure understanding of how to encourage positive behaviour and manage inappropriate behaviour in your music lessons.
Content: On this course you will learn why it is important to promote positive behaviour, and how to go about this according to the policies and procedures of your own setting. It includes advice on a range of strategies for avoiding behaviour problems before they arise, both at the lesson planning and lesson delivery stages. You will also learn how to identify and manage inappropriate and challenging behaviour, and will learn techniques for calling pupils to attention, and for promoting motivation and engagement in music lessons.
Structure: The course is structured into five sections. Each section contains a mixture of online reading & research, video and audio materials, and interactive quizzes. The course is designed to be completed at your own pace, and if you wish to you have the option of submitting a short assignment in order to receive a completion certificate.

2. Promoting Positive Behaviour – significance and strategy
3. Managing Inappropriate Behaviour – identifying & responding
4. Responding to Challenging Behaviour – dealing with severe behaviour problems
5. Conclusion – Review of learning
Outcome: On completion of this course you will be able to confidently manage behaviour in your music lessons.
