This course is designed for non-specialists teaching music as an extra subject at KS3. This course will help you understand basic musical concepts, and will give you the skills and knowledge to teach music with confidence.

Objective: To develop basic understanding of and confidence to teach music.
Content: In this course you will learn about some of the challenges of teaching music as a non-specialist, as well as focusing in-depth on developing your own musical knowlege and understanding. In particular you will learn about the interrelated dimensions of music and how to teach these to your pupils.
Structure: The course is structured into six sections. Each section contains a mixture of online reading & research, video and audio materials, and interactive quizzes. The course is designed to be completed at your own pace, and if you wish to you have the option of submitting a short assignment in order to receive a completion certificate.
