The course will cover how to source repertoire from a range of genres, styles and traditions, and how to teach this effectively across performing, composing and listening activities. You will consider the term ‘world music’ and explore in depth pieces of music from different continents that you could use with your class. Objective: Understand how to source and utilise music from a variety of diverse styles and genres in the classroom.
Content: In this course you will learn how to source repertoire from a range of genres, styles and traditions and how to listen critically and perform, improvise and compose using global music repertoire as inspiration.
Structure: The course is structured into six sections. Each section contains a mixture of online reading & research, and video and audio materials. The course is designed to be completed at your own pace, and if you wish to you have the option of submitting a short assignment in order to receive a completion certificate.
