This course has helped to develop my knowledge of music within a primary school setting. It has also allowed me to share my new knowledge with the rest of the school teaching body, meaning that confidence has improved across the whole school.

Objective: To develop basic understanding of and confidence to teach music.
Content: In this course you will learn about basic musical concepts, developing your understanding and skills to teach music with confidence. You will learn about the interrelated dimensions of music and how to teach these to your pupils.
Structure: The course is structured into nine sections. Each section contains a mixture of online reading & research, video and audio materials, and interactive quizzes. The course is designed to be completed at your own pace, and if you wish to you have the option of submitting a short assignment in order to receive a completion certificate.

3. Dynamics – definition, vocabulary, teaching ideas, and musical symbols
4. Pitch – definition, teaching ideas, and staff notation
5. Structure – definition, common musical structures, teaching ideas
6. Tempo – definition, vocabulary, and teaching ideas
7. Texture – definition, vocabulary, and teaching ideas
8. Timbre – definition and teaching ideas
9. Conclusion – Review of learning
Outcome: Once you have completed the course you will be able to teach music with confidence.
