On 6th November 2014 Music Education Solutions Ltd will be hosting a Singing Strategy Symposium for vocal leaders and staff from music education hubs. Drawing on the MES team’s experience working on six different music hub singing strategies, the event will comprise of debates, seminars, workshops and practical demonstrations designed to inspire hubs in the planning and delivery of their own singing strategy.
This will be no ordinary conference! All the sessions are designed to promote debate and action-planning. Rather than sitting passively and receiving information, delegates will work together to problem-solve and share ideas. Hubs are also being given the opportunity to lead short sessions on their own singing strategy for peer sharing and feedback.
Organisations already confirmed to facilitate sessions include Sing Up, Trinity College London, the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS), The British and International Federation of Festivals, Ex Cathedra Singing Playgrounds, and of course Music Education Solutions themselves. There will be simultaneous MES training events happening for secondary and primary teachers alongside the symposium, and delegates will have the opportunity to observe and take part in these sessions as well if they wish.
Places cost £75 per person, which includes lunch and refreshments and online booking is now open!
Elizabeth Stafford, Director of MES said: “Singing is something that we care passionately about as a company, and we want to help as many hubs as possible to develop their singing strategy work. Last year’s Ofsted report highlighted singing strategy as one of the less developed areas of hubs’ work, so we feel that the time is right to come together with all UK hub colleagues to support and develop this important part of the National Plan for Music Education.â€
