We are pleased to announce our 2015-16 UK-wide programme of CPD courses for music teachers. Split into Primary, Secondary and Instrumental & Vocal disciplines, the programme is available at five regional centres: North East & Yorkshire, North West, Midlands, London, and the brand new South West & Wales centre.

Primary courses on offer include the best-selling ‘Excellence in Primary Music’ full day course, which covers the national curriculum, ofsted recommendations, pedagogy and research, and links to the BBC Ten Pieces initiative. There are also two half day courses on offer. ‘What can I do with my Music Trolley’ is delivered in partnership with world music experts Inspire-Works Ltd, and includes the opportunity for teachers to bring along those ancient unidentified instruments from the back of the cupboard to be classified and demonstrated by an expert! ‘Composing at KS2’ is led by composer and composing in education researcher Kirsty Devaney, and represents a wonderful chance to learn from a real expert how to inspire and engage pupils in composing.

The Secondary offer includes a brand new ‘Excellence in Secondary Music’ course that covers all aspects of developing a resilient and flourishing secondary music department. Also on offer is ‘Composing at KS4 & KS5 with Kirsty Devaney,’ which will address the challenges of inspiring and improving GCSE and A Level composition.

The brand new offer for Instrumental and Vocal Teachers begins with ‘Excellence in Instrumental & Vocal Teaching’. This course covers strategies and pedagogies of whole class, individual and group teaching and is ideal for both peripatetic and private teachers. Additionally there are a series of ‘CME Taster Days’ in partnership with CPD Centre West Midlands, offering delegates a chance to experience the Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators in order to make a decision as to whether to proceed with the full qualification.

A full course brochure is available to download on the home page, and each individual course is now available to book via the Teacher CPD Page.
